Reverse Osmosis Systems

November 9th, 2017

A reverse osmosis water system can improve the water in your home or place of business. Water quality concerns us all. We hear about city water systems that fail. Some of us use other sources, such as well water. We all need to be sure that our water is safe, and even safe water may need improvement before it is pleasant to drink.

A well-maintained RO system can give you good quality drinking water. It need not be expensive. It is even possible to install such a system yourself, if you are comfortable with the work. Filters will need to be changed and, of course, the system will need to be properly installed.

No one system is right for every application. Some limitation on the RO system include output restrictions. A simple system can supply all the treated water your family needs for drinking and cooking, but may fall short if you want whole-home water treatment. Other issues include the quality of the water coming in to the system. Softening or other pretreatment may be needed. A post-filter may be required as well. It’s best to look into the mater carefully before making your choice.

Your water can be tested by a professional to determine any issues you have. That will go a long way toward helping you understand what solution will be best for you. You should be aware of the water quality issues common to your area, from hard water to pesticide contamination.

While a reasonably handy householder could install a simple under-sink system, your situation may require a more complex solution. Before venturing too far you might want to consult a reputable plumber or water treatment specialist. A qualified professional can help you determine what your needs are and select an appropriate solution. You may want a whole-house treatment plan or just a few glasses a day of good clean water. In either case, a reverse osmosis system may be at least part of the solution for you.
