Water Softener Installation in Norwalk & La Mirada
Hard water is a common problem throughout Southern California. High mineral content — primarily calcium and magnesium — leaves white scale deposits on fixtures, shortens the life of water heaters, reduces soap lathering, and leaves spots on dishes and glassware. A water softener removes these minerals before they reach your fixtures and appliances.
Our plumbers install whole-house water softeners that treat all the water entering your home. We handle the complete installation including the softener unit, bypass valve, drain connection, and electrical hookup. We also service and repair existing water softener systems when they stop regenerating properly or develop leaks.
Our Water Softener Process
Water Testing
We test your water hardness to determine the severity of the problem and size the softener unit accordingly. Southern California water typically tests between 15 and 25 grains per gallon, well above the threshold where softening provides meaningful benefits.
System Selection
Based on your water hardness, household size, and water usage, we recommend a properly sized softener unit. Undersized units regenerate too frequently and waste salt and water. Oversized units develop channeling and bacterial issues.
Installation
We install the softener on the main water line, connect the bypass valve for maintenance access, route the drain line per code, and set up the control valve programming. The unit is typically placed in the garage or utility area.
Commissioning
We program the regeneration cycle, fill the brine tank, run the initial regeneration, and test the treated water for hardness. We walk you through basic maintenance — adding salt and checking the brine tank level monthly.
