Cleanout Installation in Norwalk & La Mirada
A sewer cleanout is a capped access point on your sewer line that allows plumbers to reach the inside of the pipe without removing a toilet or going through the roof. Without a cleanout, every drain cleaning or camera inspection becomes more difficult, more time-consuming, and more expensive.
Many older homes in Norwalk and La Mirada were built without exterior cleanouts, or the original cleanout has been buried by landscaping, concrete, or a patio addition. Our plumbers install new cleanouts at the most accessible point on your sewer line, typically near the foundation or at the property line. Once installed, future maintenance is faster, easier, and less expensive.
Our Cleanout Installation Process
Location Selection
We identify the best location for the cleanout based on your sewer line routing, the location of the main sewer lateral, and accessibility for future maintenance. We prefer a spot that is easy to reach with equipment.
Excavation
We carefully dig down to the sewer line at the selected location. Depth varies — typically 2 to 4 feet for most residential sewer laterals in our area.
Cleanout Fitting
We cut into the sewer line and install a wye or tee fitting with a threaded or mushroom-style cleanout cap. The fitting provides a straight shot into the sewer line in both directions.
Backfill & Restoration
We backfill the excavation, compact the soil, and restore the surface — whether it is dirt, landscaping, or concrete. The cleanout cap is left at grade level or in a flush-mounted box for easy access.
