Backflow Testing & Prevention in Norwalk & La Mirada
Backflow prevention devices protect your drinking water supply from contamination caused by reverse flow in the plumbing system. When water pressure drops — due to a main break, fire hydrant use, or pump failure — contaminated water can flow backward into the clean water supply if a backflow preventer is not in place.
California requires annual testing of all backflow prevention assemblies. Our certified backflow testers perform required annual inspections, install new backflow preventers, and repair failed assemblies. We handle the paperwork and submit test reports directly to your water purveyor so you stay compliant without the hassle.
Our Backflow Testing Process
Device Identification
We locate and identify your backflow prevention assembly — reduced pressure zone (RPZ), double check valve (DCV), or pressure vacuum breaker (PVB) — and verify it is the correct type for the application.
Testing
Using a calibrated differential pressure gauge, we test the device according to USC Foundation standards. We check for proper operation of check valves, relief valve discharge, and shutoff valve tightness.
Report & Repair
If the device passes, we complete the test report and submit it to your water district. If it fails, we diagnose the problem — usually worn check valve seats or a fouled relief valve — and repair it on the spot.
Installation
For new backflow preventer installations, we select the correct device type based on the hazard classification, install it per local code requirements, and register it with the water purveyor.
