One: Keep the house as cool as possible. Cover windows, especially those the sun hits. Run fans if you have them.

Two: Keep to the coolest part of the home. Lower levels are cooler, and rooms shielded from the sun will be most comfortable.

Three: Dress and eat lightly. Cool light cotton is best to wear. Cool light salads are best to eat.

Four: Drink water. Doctors tell us lots of water is important. Cool water is fine, we do not require sports drinks for low-level activity.

Of course you will already have called your local air conditioning company to schedule a repair visit. While the technicians are there, you might want to discuss future maintenance, and perhaps the installation of a reliable and efficient new air-conditioning system.
