Home Water Treatment:

We all appreciate clean water, and reverse osmosis filtration is a great way to get good clean water. It isn’t the only water treatment system available, of course. But reverse osmosis is a way to get pure  water at a reasonable price. The cost of a reverse filtration system is within the budget of most people, as the systems are available in a wide rang of styles. You can chose a counter top model, an under sink system with its own faucet, or a whole-house system that will provide treated water to every tap.

Reverse osmosis filtration systems are really a combination of several water treatment methods, including reverse osmosis. A typical system works like this: A sediment pre-filter takes out the heavy material, including particulate matter from the outright evil and dangerous to merely annoying and filter-clogging. A second carbon filter removes chemicals and contaminates that make water nasty and might also damage the RO filter membrane, reducing its effectiveness. Then comes the reverse osmosis filter. This works by forcing the pre-treated water through a semi-permeable membrane, filtering out anything larger than a water molecule. Then, there may be a final filtration through activated carbon, to assure sparkling clean water as a final product.
