Get Ready for a Cool Summer

It’s time to think about the health of your air conditioning system. Summer will be here soon, and then you’ll be glad you took the time to tend to the maintenance chores now. There are several easy, inexpensive tasks that will help make your summer a cool one.

Just turn that AC on and see what you get out of it. Make sure the connections and settings are correct. If it blows cold air, that’s good. But that isn’t all there is to it.

You’ll want to make sure that there aren’t any obstructions around your air conditioning unit. Blocking the air flow will make your AC work harder. Clear the area of any debris, and cut back any plants that may be encroaching on your AC’s space.

Give the filters some attention. Replace the disposable kind with fresh filters. Some systems have the type that requires cleaning. If you have that type, you probably know what to do about it. But if you don’t know, there will be friendly and highly qualified AC pro available near you to help you with that.

There will be a drain. Check to make sure that water is dripping as it should. If there’s nothing at all happening, you may have a clogged drain pipe. That can cause real problems, like serious water damage inside your home.

When the do-it-yourself part is done, it might be a good idea to get a pro to complete your spring AC tuneup. There are some parts to be considered that you might not be ready to deal with. Neglect can be costly, so why don’t you give your local Air Conditioning contractor a call to schedule  a checkup. A failed air conditioning unit could wreck your summer.
