Attempts at home cooling systems have been being made for centuries. Human efforts date back at least to the Romans in their prime. The Ancient Persians made great strides toward managing indoor comfort too. Before climate controlled vehicles became available, people going out-of-doors had to adapt their clothing to reduce heat and promote comfort. In deserts, people adopted robes, to keep the person under the robes at least less hot. It must have been a good plan, because they still do that today in desert countries. In the tropics, people commonly chose to wear little or no clothing. And that must be a good plan, too, because we still do that in the hot, humid tropics. In more conservatively clad communities where most of us live and work, neither robes nor nakedness will fit in. So in that case, I guess we’re still going to need air conditioners.
